Mixed martial arts (commonly referred to as MMA) is a combat sport in which two competitors attempt to achieve dominance over one another by utilizing a wide variety of permitted martial arts techniques in full contact, including striking and grappling. Well-known MMA organizations include the Ultimate Fighting Championship and PRIDE Fighting Championships.

The techniques utilized in MMA competition generally fall into two categories: striking techniques (such as kicks, knees and punches) and grappling techniques (such as clinch holds, pinning holds, submission holds, sweeps, takedowns and throws).

The Mixed martial Arts are now integrated in to the jiu-jitsu and grappling programs.

Training and Conditioning (TAC) is alos now integrated in to the jiu-jitsu and grappling programs. The TAC is interval training that involves cardio, strength and quickness drills. Drills are akin to boxing roadwork, a cardio burst followed by a strength or fighting skill. Some of the exercises are jumping rope, running stairs, sit-ups, pushups, mountain climbers, abdominal wheel, arm bars, wrestling pummeling, elbow escape / shrimping, kneeing, kicking and striking.
